Welcome to the RBS/1890 BISNet (Business Information System
Network) home page on the Internet's World Wide Web. I am pleased to make
available to you BISNet.
This project is near and dear to me as I believe we must make "technology
work for us" as we face limited resources and substantial cuts in funding.
This project will assist the agency in getting the word out about the resources
available, thereby, significantly helping to meet the mission, improving
the quality of life in rural America.
I am a firm believer in President Clinton's efforts to help everyone
get
connected on the Internet's World Wide Web. BISNet is going to carry
us a long way toward that mark. It is an information resource tool that
reaches out to low-income, rural communities. During the process, it strengthens
USDA/1890 partnerships in empowering rural, limited resource communities.
This project is coordinated through RBS, Extension Service, and the
1890 Land-Grant Colleges and Universities plus Tuskegee University. The
land-grant institutions have some of the best agriculture science and business
educational programs in the nation. BISNet builds on the strength of these
programs therein ensuring quality education related to rural business development
and the improvement of the quality of life in the participating rural communities.
